Being told, rather than checking
This site adds material in batches, weeks apart. That is a reasonable pace for the work and an unreasonable one to ask anybody to keep up with by visiting.

One entry per report and one per log note, each with its own title, its own link and its own date. No digests, and nothing that exists only to give the feed something to say.
A feed asks nothing of you and tells this project nothing about you. There is no address to hold, so there is nothing here to lose, sell or leak.
By email
One message when something new is documented, nothing else
That sentence is the whole undertaking, and it is meant literally. No newsletter, no monthly round-up, no appeal, no account, and nothing sent because a few weeks have gone by and there was nothing to report.
01
What you will actually receive
A message when a report is added to the collection, when the project log records something that changes what this site claims, and when a result is published, including a negative one. Corrections travel the same way as the things they correct: if a wording here was wrong, the amendment is sent, not quietly filed.
Nothing else. Not a note that the project is still going, not a summary of what you may have missed, and not a request for money, which this project does not take. If a month passes with nothing documented, you will hear nothing, and that is the correct behaviour rather than a lapse.
02
What is done with your address
It is used to send you those messages and for nothing else. It is not passed on, not sold, not used to work out who you are, and not combined with anything else. Every message carries a link that removes you, and using it removes the address rather than marking it inactive.
You are on the list only after answering a confirmation message, so an address typed in by somebody else does not subscribe you. If no confirmation arrives, you are not subscribed, and no amount of waiting will change that.
03
A better way to hear from us
Subscribing is the least you can do, and it is offered because the alternative is losing readers to the pace of the work. The thing this project actually needs is the opposite: an earlier source than the one we cite, an account of standing in one of these places, an object whose history can be reconstructed.
Those arrive by email in the other direction, and they are what the next report is usually made of.
